Lock Haven’s Consumer Base

The typical resident of the City of Lock Haven is a 22-year-old woman renting a home on one of the city’s tree-lined streets. Individuals between the ages of 20-24 account for more than a quarter of the city’s residents. While 14.2% of the city’s population is under the age of 18, 9.6% is over the age of 65. The median family has an income of $47,774 while the mean household income is $50,377, with a cost of living index 10-12% less than the national average. Lock Haven’s Workforce

With a 5.6% unemployment rate, 29% of the city’s residents work in service occupations and another 28% work in sales and office occupations. More than 82% of the city’s residents are high school graduates, and of those, 6.7% have obtained associates degrees and 10.9% hold bachelor’s degrees (US Census ACS, 2012).
